Vauxhall Cars 1903-1918 | Book 1 | Building the Power

Book 1 records the beginnings of the Vauxhall Light Car and the building up of a steady production followed by the move to Luton. Vauxhall models are described as they developed and the early unrewarded forays into the field of competition are recorded. The dramatic increase in demand after 1908 and the rapid build-up of production is mentioned, with all the standard models described in detail. The outbreak of war and the insatiable demand from the War Department for all staff cars is fully recorded, as is the abrupt cancellation of all outstanding contracts after the 1918 armistice.
